I have dedicated the subject of my art to what inspires me the greatest, the equine form.  As an artist and horse person, I am drawn to the lines in their conformation; fluid, angular, curvaceous and graceful. In my artworks, I look for ways to express these lines through familiar poses and movements using expressive color, accentuating energy and movement through brushwork and other tools. My work often engages a connection between horse and the viewer.

My process begins out in the field. In a paddock full of horses there is usually one or two, most often mares, that captivate my interest and evoke the desire to create. This happens through witnessing their character, movement, interaction or reflections of color on their coat. Sometimes it is the story behind what the animal has brought to the humans in their lives.

Back in my studio, my walls are covered with moments of those field notes, photographs and studies. As I am creating, I look for the lines that interest me most, exploring ideas on how I can express, expand and accentuate. When the work is complete, I take great joy having woven the story of each horse, with my memory of that experience in the field to create a my statement in paint on canvas.

I started my artistic career over 18 years ago in Ontario, Canada.  I am proud to have longstanding relationships with my collectors.  In the summer of 2013 I relocated with my family to Portland, Oregon. My studio is currently located in the village of Sellwood, SE Portland Oregon & I LOVE visitors! Alternatively, if you are on the East Coast,  you can see some of my inventory at Equis Art Gallery, in the lovely hamlet of Red Hook, New York.
